ACTIVATION

DAA – DOUBLE ACTIVATION AUTOMATIC

 

Activation type: Automatic + Manual

DAA means the life jacket inflates automatically upon water contact, while also providing a manual pull-cord trigger.

Activation type: Automatic + Manual (same logic as DAA)

DAAM functions essentially the same as DAA — the jacket offers two independent activation methods.
It triggers automatically when submerged or manually by pulling the handle.

Advantages:

• Combination of automatic and manual triggering
• Most universal choice for recreational and professional users

SAA – SINGLE ACTIVATION AUTOMATIC

 

Activation type: Automatic

SAA indicates a life jacket designed primarily for automatic activation upon water contact.
A manual pull system may or may not be present, depending on the model.

Advantages:

• Simplest activation system
• No manual action required
• Reliable in calm conditions

Limitations:

• Not ideal for environments with heavy spray (may trigger prematurely)

 

ACTIVATOR TYPE

UML / HR – UML AUTOMATIC INFLATOR (Bobbin system)

 

Activation type: Automatic (water-soluble bobbin/tablet)

UML (United Moulders Ltd.) is one of the most widely used inflator types.
It operates with a cellulose bobbin that dissolves on water contact, releasing the CO₂ mechanism.

Advantages:

• Reliable and cost-effective system
• Easy servicing and bobbin/cartridge replacement
• Suitable for most watersports

Limitations:

• Can trigger early in heavy spray or strong rainfall
• Requires periodic bobbin replacement

HAMMAR - HYDROSTATIC INFLATOR (MA1)

 

Activation type: Hydrostatic automatic activation

HAMMAR is the most advanced and spray-resistant activation system.
It inflates only when fully submerged — water pressure activates the mechanism, not rain, splash, or humidity.

Advantages:

• No unwanted activations from spray or waves
• Highest safety level in demanding marine environments
• Stable, highly reliable inflator for offshore use
